This series of sculptures by Brian Fell and George Fell was created and installed between 2020 and 2022. They were commissioned by Knowsley Borough Council to mark the opening of the Shakespeare North Playhouse in Prescot, Merseyside. The series of animal sculptures installed around Prescot Town Centre were fabricated in stainless steel. Each one represents an animal included in the Witches’ Chant in Macbeth.
The sculptures installed in the Shakespeare North Playhouse represent themes and characters in Shakespeare’s work. These include a crown, a figure of Titania installed on the theatre’s exterior wall and a skull wearing a jester’s hat placed in the theatre’s Sir Ken Dodd Performance Garden. A Raven and a Lark were also commissioned for the theatre’s education space.
